How Does Cloud Web Hosting Operate?

What is cloud hosting actually? The word 'cloud' appears to be very modern in today's information technology, World Wide Web and web hosting jargon. In spite of that, only a few actually are aware of what cloud hosting is. Maybe it is a fine idea to educate yourself about cloud hosting services. To make a quite lengthy story concise, we will firstly disclose to you what cloud hosting is not.

1. Cloud Hosting is Not Limited to a Remote Data Storage Exclusively.

1. Furnishing a remote file storage service, which comprises one single file storage tool for all users, does not transform any particular hosting firm into an actual cloud hosting firm.

The cPanel web hosting providers call the ability to offer remote data storage solutions a cloud hosting service. Until now there is nothing wrong with the cloud terminology, but... we are discussing web hosting solutions, not remote disk storage services for private or corporate purposes. There's invariably one "but", isn't there? It's not enough to name a shared hosting service, driven by a one-server web hosting environment, just like cPanel, a "cloud hosting" solution. This is so because the remaining parts of the whole web hosting platform must be operating in exactly the same manner - this does not refer only to the remote disk storage. The remaining services entailed in the entire web hosting process also have to be remote, isolated and "clouded". And that's very difficult. A very scanty number of web hosting suppliers can really make it.

2. It Includes Domains, Emails, Databases, FTPs, Web Hosting Control Panels, etc.

Cloud hosting is not restricted to a remote disk storage exclusively. We are talking about a hosting solution, serving many domain names, sites, email mailbox accounts, etc., aren't we?

To dub a hosting service a "cloud hosting" one demands a lot more than distributing only remote disk storage mounts (or probably physical servers). The e-mail server(s) must be devoted exclusively to the email associated services. Executing nothing different than these specific tasks. There might be only one or perchance a whole array of email servers, determined by the overall server load produced. To have a genuine cloud hosting service, the remote database servers should be performing as one, regardless of their real amount. Doing nothing else. The same goes for the clients' web hosting CPs, the File Transfer Protocol, etc.

3. There are Cloud Domain Servers (DNSs) as well.

The DNSs (Domain Name Servers) of an actual cloud hosting firm will support multiple data center facility locations on different continents.

Here's an example of a DNS of a genuine cloud hosting distributor:

dns1.hostingptc.com

dns2.hostingptc.com

If such a DNS is furnished by your hosting solutions provider, it's not a sure thing that there is a cloud hosting platform in use, but you can absolutely be certain when you spot a DNS like the one underneath:

dns658.hostgator.com

dns659.hostgator.com

that there isn't any cloud web hosting service. This type of Domain Name Server only reveals that the hosting platform in use is one-single-server based. Probably it's cPanel. cPanel is a one-single-server hosting solution and has a market share of more than ninety eight percent. In cPanel's case, one single physical machine tackles all hosting services (web, mail, DNS, databases, FTP, CP(s), files, and so on).

Remote File Storage - The Perverted Description of Cloud Hosting.

So, a cloud hosting service is not limited just to a remote disk storage service, as lots of web hosting suppliers wish it was. Unluckily for them, if that was the case, the majority of the file hosting suppliers would have been referred to as cloud web hosting ones long ago! They are not categorized as such, since they simply provide file web hosting solutions, not cloud hosting solutions. The file web hosting platform is indeed quite simple, when compared to the web hosting platform. The remote disk storage platform is not a cloud hosting platform. It cannot be, as it's only one tiny fragment of the whole cloud web hosting platform. There's a lot more to be discovered in the cloud web hosting platform: the CP cloud, the database clouds (MySQL, PostgreSQL), the DNS cloud, the FTP cloud, the electronic mail cloud and... in the not too distant future, probably a bunch of brand new clouds we presently are not aware of will appear out of nowhere.
